This work hangs in the atrium of Benjamin Banneker High school. It is based on the story of his wooden clock - a creation he built after reverse engineering a borrowed pocket watch. The process of exploration, understanding and assembly on the road to creation takes courage, confidence and patience. We arranged the pocket watch in a way that resembles astrological and planetary models, borrowing language from and using 21st century enterprise which is built on the foundation laid by Banneker and other early astronomers, mathematicians and scientists.
